Ridhvik “Vik” Gopal serves as Team Lead for DNV’s Energy Storage Technology and Safety division. In this capacity, he leads a team of subject matter experts responsible for product and project-level technical due diligence, root cause analysis, and battery safety technical advisory. Gopal holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado-Boulder and industry experience from previous tenures at Northvolt, Caterpillar, and Unirac. At Caterpillar, Gopal focused on safety systems architecture and the integration of mechanical and electrical components for mobile and stationary Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). During his time at Northvolt, he specialized in thermal runaway analysis, utilizing his research on detection and suppression systems to design next-generation Energy Storage Systems (ESS) with enhanced resilience and safety features.
